Capturing the live experience across vinyl, CD & live streaming

When The Music returned in the summer of 2022, it was not just another live show. It was a hometown gathering. Over 12,000 people filled the grounds of Temple Newsam House in Leeds to see a band reconnect with the place, people and energy that shaped them.

Our role was to help translate that moment into a wider visual release. The work covered vinyl and CD artwork, t-shirt design, release trailers, supporting campaign material and the edit of the live stream concert itself.

The visual direction was built around memory, movement and recognition. We looked back at the band's existing visual history, particularly the circular forms that had become closely associated with The Music, then reshaped them into something new. For the t-shirt designs, that circle was reworked through the waveform of Welcome to the North, tying the graphic directly to the music and to Leeds itself.

To capture the full atmosphere of the night, we also invited fans to send in their own footage from the set. This was edited into the professional live footage, adding a more immediate, crowd level perspective to the final stream. It helped the concert feel less like a document viewed from a distance and more like a shared memory of being there.

The wider release balanced raw live energy with a more refined graphic system. High contrast typography, analogue texture, stark composition and clean digital formats helped create a body of work that felt both immediate and archival.

The result was more than supporting material for a live album. It became a visual record of a band returning to its origin point, and a crowd meeting them there.
